Billingham-based North East Truck & Van (NETV) has supplied independent builders merchant MKM Building Supplies with 10 new IVECO Stralis X-WAY 6×2 rear-steer rigids as part of its ongoing fleet replacement programme.
Each X-WAY (AD260X31Y/PS) is powered by IVECO’s lightweight 8.7-litre Cursor 9 diesel engine which delivers 310 hp and 1,300 Nm of torque. They are mounted with dropside bodywork and feature a truck-mounted crane to assist with the loading and unloading of heavy building products.
The Stralis X-WAY’s modular construction allows vehicles to be specified to meet customer needs on and off-road. MKM Building Supplies chose the ‘ON’ version – which provides on-road homologation on a reinforced chassis, with easy cab access and optimum visibility for the safest working conditions.
MKM says the suitability of the X-WAY for tackling final mile deliveries onto construction sites and light off-road missions was a crucial part of its decision to place its first order for the new model. Shane Thompson, Head of Transport at MKM Building Supplies, said: “The new X-WAY hit the mark perfectly.
“Hearing positive feedback from another builders’ merchant which took one of the first new models convinced me to place an order. So far, the new X-WAY’s performance has been excellent.”
