Laurence Drake has been appointed Managing Director of DAF Trucks, succeeding Robin Easton who has been promoted to the role of Assistant General Manager Operations for PACCAR Financial Corporation.

Drake, 44, (pictured) has held a wide range of management positions at DAF Trucks and PACCAR Financial, in sales, credit, operations and business planning, with his most recent role as UK Sales Director at DAF. Russell Patmore, 51, who succeeds Drake as Truck Sales Director, joined DAF 29 years ago as a graduate management trainee and has progressed through various sales roles with increasing levels of responsibility in both PACCAR Financial and DAF culminating in his role as Business Planning Director over the last two years.

Easton returns to PACCAR from where he previously held a number of senior positions in treasury and investor relations. His new role will see him assume responsibility for PACCAR Financial’s Mexican and Australian finance companies, collections and used equipment.

Meanwhile, Retail Sales Director, Nigel Hunt, is to retire from DAF Trucks after 36-years with the company. His achievements include breaking into, and establishing long-term relationships with Translease, Brake Bros and Sainsbury’s.

Translease Managing Director Tim Scott said: “Nigel was instrumental in helping the Translease start-up in 2005. He is a true ‘old school’ salesman; cool, calm and collected, and thoroughly likeable.” Hunt, who will remain in the truck industry undertaking consultancy roles, is succeeded by Gareth Halliwell.

Halliwell started with the company at PACCAR Financial in 2007 as Regional Business Manager and in 2011, he joined DAF Trucks as Regional Sales Manager for the South West. He said: “I’m excited to be leading a young, dynamic team alongside the support of our fantastic DAF dealer network, and on towards even greater market share.”

Also at the company’s Haddenham head office James Stewart is promoted to the role of Fleet Sales Director, replacing Ian Grant, who is appointed Fleet Aftersales Director. Stewart joinied in 2011 following an industrial placement with the company as part of a Business Degree, while Grant has also progressed through the ranks since joining the firm in 2005.
