Volvo Trucks has signed a two-year extension to its partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 team, which will see it continue as an official supplier providing transport and logistics support for both race team and hospitality operations.
The manufacturer has been McLaren’s official truck supplier since 2016, with its 13-litre FH-540s providing logistical support at racetracks around the world. New features on the latest batch of 24 vehicles include Volvo’s new I-See predictive cruise control system and a faster 2.31:1 differential ratio.
Now, using I-See with its new cloud-based mapping system, McLaren is expected to substantially reduce its fuel consumption and lower its environmental impact, without compromising drivability. Robert Grozdanovski, Managing Director, Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland, said: “We are extremely proud to continue our relationship with McLaren Racing, especially since our two companies share a number of values, like our approach to quality and innovation.”
Mark Waller, Managing Director, Sales & Marketing, McLaren Racing, added: “We are proud to continue our partnership with as prestigious a brand as Volvo Trucks, who are renowned for their innovative and high-performance heavy goods transport solutions. Transporting the McLaren Formula 1 teams from country to country in an efficient, reliable and safe manner is essential to the smooth running of our team and we look forward to continuing on this journey together.”
