The Liverpool branch of DAF dealer North West Trucks is supplying national bulk tanker specialist Abbey Logistics with 20 XF FTP lightweight mid-lift 6×2 tractor units.
The order – a £1.6m investment into Abbey’s bulk liquid and bulk powder operations – re-establishes DAF with the operator. It is made up of 16 XF 480 FTPs and four XF 450 FTPs, all with Space Cabs which are in build for delivery from mid-June through to early July.
A total of 12 units will be equipped with Gardner Denver discharge equipment, while eight will come with Meller systems. The new DAF XF order will bring the Abbey Logistics fleet total to 350.
The order also follows the release recently of Abbey Logistics’ financial results in which the company revealed significant investment into assets and infrastructure. Following a Management Buy-Out in 2016, Abbey has seen its turnover increase by 24% to £63m.
Steve Granite, CEO at Abbey Logistics, said: “This order demonstrates the direction in which this company is heading. The last six-months has seen some significant business wins.
“And it’s no surprise that we have placed our faith in the DAF marque,” he said, “the three-axle XF tractor is a proven model, it’s super reliable, our drivers love the Space Cab. Crucially,” he added, “we know we will receive fantastic back-up at both local and national level through the DAF Dealer Network.”
