Lancashire-based transport, warehousing and distribution specialist Kenyon Haulage has added four new Volvo FE 6×2 rigids to its fleet.
The sleeper cab vehicles, supplied by Luke Talbot, customer solutions manager at Thomas Hardie Commercials, are the company’s first Volvo trucks and first new rigids it has bought. They are powered by Euro-6, D8K engines producing 280hp and include I-Shift 12-speed automated transmission systems.
Foster Commercials, Preston, built the curtain-sided bodies and each one comes with a tuck-away tail-lift. Kenyon Haulage ordered the FE rigids after trialling a similar demonstration vehicle.
The haulier, which operates a fleet of 60 vehicles across its sites in Blackburn and Woodville, Derbyshire, will use the trucks for pallet network collections and deliveries, as well as long distance UK haulage operations. The vehicles come with five-year Gold Service Contracts with evening and weekend servicing slots to maximise vehicle utilisation figures.
Graham Darnell MD at Kenyon Haulage said: “In the past our company has bought used rigid vehicles, but a change in strategy led to trialling a Volvo FE. “Driver feedback on the demonstration vehicle was good, whilst the vehicle quality, price and projected residual values were all attractive.
“The initial sales process was excellent and the same continues with aftersales support from Thomas Hardie Commercials.”
