1966 World Cup legend, Sir Geoff Hurst, has been signed by MAN Truck & Bus UK to launch an exclusive, limited edition 66 registration plate MAN TGX tractor unit.

September sees the registration prefix on all motor vehicles change from 16 to 66. 2016 also marks the 50th anniversary of England winning the football World Cup.

To celebrate England’s historic win again Germany, German-owned MAN Truck & Bus UK is working with Sir Geoff on its new exclusive, limited edition truck. Sir Geoff scored a hat-trick in the historic final, leading England to a 4-2 victory.

Simon Elliott, football fan and MAN Truck & Bus UK Managing Director, said the company was offering its UK customers the chance to buy just one of 66 limited edition trucks: “It’s a real honour to be working with Sir Geoff on this initiative. Our entire business, both here in the UK and in Germany has total respect for him as a player and a footballing ambassador, and we just couldn’t miss the chance to recognise this landmark and the 66 plate.”

Sir Geoff said: “This is a fantastic initiative and shows that even though our win was 50 years ago, it is still being celebrated today. It was an honour to meet the team at MAN who are red hot keen to offer their customers something unique. It was good to chat trucks and football, and it was agreed by most that now is the time for England to bring home more silverware!”

All customers who purchase one of the trucks will get to meet Sir Geoff at a special handover ceremony to be held in Wembley in September.
