Depot General Manager – Milton Keynes

We are currently recruiting for a General Manager to provide the leadership required to efficiently and effectively manage our Client’s Milton Keynes Depot with the aim of both meeting and exceeding the customer’s requirements.

The post holder will be required to own all aspects of leading and managing a site in order to deliver excellent customer service, and achieve financial and operational targets.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
• To own all aspects of leading and managing a depot in order to deliver excellent customer service
• Set objectives for each supervisor / direct report, consistent with objectives and pertinent to local priorities and needs and review performance on a monthly basis.
• Ensure high personal visibility within the business and ensure all colleagues are aware of personal objectives and the on-going performance of the depot
• Pro-actively manage major customer relationships through regular meetings
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation
• Ensure representation of the brand is optimised through a systemised and consistent approach
• Embrace all initiatives, programmes and projects and ensure they are supported and developed throughout the business

Candidate Requirements
• Demonstrable experience within a similar environment
• Previous managerial or supervisory experience including performance measurement and management
• Ability to build and lead a successful and motivated team
• Effective communication
• IT literate with presentation & written reporting skills
• Negotiating and influencing both internally & externally
• Awareness and understanding of legislative requirements
• To work with and fully understand management accounts
• Ability to organise work using initiative and work under pressure
• Excellent customer service including building a positive and mutually beneficial relationship – Listening to and anticipating customer needs
• Ability to actively seek solutions to problems at a managerial level
• Flexible approach to working hours

Desired (not essential) experience / skills
• A technical qualification or experience of repairing & maintaining vehicles • LGV Class C+E
