Bob Lowden, Managing Director of Iveco UK since November last year, has left the business. Iveco remain tight lipped about his departure and promise that there will be an announcement regarding his replacement this coming Monday. Stuart Webster, current Marketing Director at CNH Industrial Financial Services and formerly head of Iveco Capital in the UK, is a name that has been tipped for the post, but no official confirmation has been made.
Lowden only took up the reigns in November last year and was very vocal about the benefits of having a UK born and bred person at the top who was less likely to disappear back to Italy after a couple of years.
Lowden was no stranger to the UK market – most recently he was working for Iveco in South Africa, but prior to his move to the southern hemisphere, he spent five years as Customer Service Director in the UK, responsible for parts and service, before which he was Dealer Network Director for a period of four years.
Morale at Iveco headquarters in Watford is unlikely to be high, as the move to the CNH Industrial headquarters in Basildon is under way. The prospects of a commute around the top of the M25 each day would fill few lives with joy.
Iveco’s Q1 truck registrations are down -11% in a market up 53%, whilst the vans to 6 tonnes are faring a little better, up around 12% in a market up 22%.
A buyer has yet to be found for the Grays Truck & Van business on the south side of the M25 – the business is currently under ownership and control of Iveco UK.
Once the move to Basildon has been completed and a new person in position at the top, Iveco can hopefully turn a corner and improve on their position with what is a solid product range.
