WMS Warranty

Imperial Commercials, one of the UK’s largest independent commercial vehicle dealership groups has purchased the entire share capital of S & B Commercials PLC from the Holmes family, the second Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealership acquired in two years, after the purchase of Orwell Truck & Van Ltd back in February 2013.

S & B Commercials is a Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer located in North London, Hertfordshire and Essex. The four principal sites are located in Welham Green, Hatfield, Stansted and West Thurrock, and the business employs around 275 people.  With a turnover of £110 million in 2013 and a profit of more than £2 million, the company was well run with strong management control.

The existing S & B Commercials employees will remain within the business and Dan Holmes, the current Managing Director, will continue in charge.

Imperial Holdings UK Director, Ian Oakes said: “S & B Commercials is a well-respected, long standing Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer that has been carefully and lovingly built by the Holmes family in to a business with a strong regional reputation. We are looking forward to growing the business further from its very solid foundation; it is a great fit with the existing IMPERIAL UK portfolio. I look forward to welcoming everyone on board and meeting staff and customers alike.”

S & B Commercials Managing Director, Dan Holmes added: “IMPERIAL Holdings and S & B Commercials is a great fit; IMPERIAL’s existing UK businesses, IMPERIAL Commercials and Orwell Truck & Van, have a good record of investing in the commercial vehicle sector and will bring this expertise to our Group. Under the new ownership, the business will continue to operate as S & B Commercials with the same dedicated approach to meeting the needs of our many loyal customers. We are looking to the future with real confidence.”

Steve Bridge, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Vans, commented: “This is a strong statement by our Commercial Vehicle Dealer network that the ever-changing requirements and expectations of customers are being welcomed and responded to. I look forward to seeing S & B Commercials continuing to develop over the coming years.”

Michael Kamper, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, concluded: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish S & B Commercials all the best in the future. The Commercial Vehicle market is strengthening and provides a solid landscape for the businesses to grow.”

S & B Commercials and Orwell Truck & Van will continue to trade separately.
