ASTON BARCLAY LAUNCHES NEW FORTNIGHTLY VAN SALE

Aston Barclay has introduced a new fortnightly van sale at its Chelmsford auction as the used light commercial market shows glimpses of recovery at two of its UK sites.

The new Chelmsford sale is being held on the Monday of the 2nd and 4th week of each month and has been instigated by the increased demand from vendors and buyers to sell and buy used stock since September.
Often the revival in the light commercial market among small businesses is a sign that the economy is starting to slowly improve and this is what Aston Barclay is experiencing in Chelmsford and Westbury.
Aston Barclay’s Chelmsford van sale is attracting a number of buyers and a good selection of nearly 100 vans, with old favourites such as the smaller Ford Transit and Vauxhall Combo in demand.

At Aston Barclay’s Westbury site light commercial prices have been more consistent than cars in 2009, and its fortnightly van sales have seen demand exceed supply in recent months. More private buyers are bidding on stock with mid-size Vivaros, Trafics, Transit ex-utility and council vehicles in high demand.

“During 2009 fewer small businesses have been looking to buy used vans as they ride out the recession. Some of those companies are coming back into the market to buy a used van as their businesses start to show signs of growth,” said David Scarborough, Aston Barclay’s national sales director.
“Buying used for many small companies is their only option as they can’t access the money to buy a new vehicle. Companies are predicting a slight change of fortune in the 2010 economy so many are gearing up their transport needs accordingly,” he added.
