Daf first with EU Type Approval
|
A Daf XF 105 'Edition 2009' tractor unit was the first commercial vehicle to win Type Approval under new EC rules that came into force on 29 April. Vehicles approved under these new rules no longer need separate approvals in every EC state where they are sold - a single EU Type Approval is now enough to cover all EU countries. The XF 105 'Edition 2009' is a special model that incorporates, among other features, Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Collision Warning. It had to undergo tests and checks on more than 40 criteria, including emissions, brakes, lighting and mirrors, before being given what is thought to be EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval certificate No 1. This means it and its sister vehicles can be registered and run anywhere in the European Community without further certification.
