are launching the first ever ‘CVD Dealer Salesperson of the
Year’ awards.
If
you are involved in the selling of commercial vehicles – trucks
or vans – then you can put yourself forward for this fantastic
competition. Better
still if you are a Dealer Principle, Sales Manager or simply a
colleague of someone you believe stands a chance then you can
nominate them for the award.
There
are four categories to go for – so even if you have not busted
all of your sales targets – tricky in the current climate –
you could still be in with a chance for a prize.

all round performance

newcomer (12 months or less)
There
is a Ł250 holiday voucher for the category winners plus a massive
Ł1,000 holiday voucher for the overall winner.
In addition, the winning salesperson will get four
full-page advertisements in either Trucklocator
Weekly magazine or Van
Finder Weekly magazine – depending whether they sell trucks
or vans.
The
best prize of all is the prestige of becoming the first ever
winner of the ‘CVD Dealer Salesperson of the Year’ award.

Howells, Marketing Brand Manager for Commercial Vehicle Direct
Insurance Services was
responsible for putting together the concept of the awards,
“Over many years the UK’s commercial vehicle salespeople have
been recommending our insurance products to their customers - we
wanted to give something back to them.“ She continues, “We
know that the market is tough at the moment and we can see people
working twice as hard to get half the results. We think that this hard work should be rewarded with a
holiday to relax and some free advertising to get the phone
ringing.”
Both
Trucklocator and Van Finder magazines have been helping to sell
commercial vehicles for more than a decade. Sales Manager for the magazines, Zena Daniels commented,
“It is great to be a part of the awards competition, it is a
tough market out there and the salespeople won’t be earning the
commission that they are used to. Giving the winner four full
pages of advertising in Trucklocator or Van Finder magazines
should make the job of selling commercial vehicles easier!”
All
you have to do is to submit a 500-word testimonial to the judging
panel. You may submit
the information about yourself or nominate a colleague for an
award.
This
should give evidence and recent examples of how you have excelled
in the area for which they are nominated. For example, if you are
putting yourself forward for the Best Customer Service award, then
you could provide examples of recent customers who have been won
over by your effort, and how this was achieved.
If
you fancy your chances in the best sales performance category tell
us how you performed versus your peers or your targets – or
maybe how your performance compares against last year when the
economic times were rosier.
If
you find yourself selling, delivering, cleaning and sweeping the
floor then tell us about it for the all-round performance
category.
If
you have been in commercial vehicle sales for just twelve months
or less then you may not have known ‘the good times’. Tell us
how you have worked hard to gain some business and how you have
learnt your trade.
Don’t
forget, we are looking for an overall winner too, so if you have
gone over and above what is expected from you in your role, tell
us how.

There’s
plenty of time for you to craft your submission, as the final
judging will not take place until November, with the awards
announced in December 2009, giving the winners a fantastic
Christmas present.

Dispensing
with flashy awards ceremonies, the four winners will be invited to
a fun day’s entertainment including an overnight stay, including
dinner and drinks. They will receive their trophies and prizes and
the chance to feature in the Christmas edition of CV Dealer
Magazine.
The
judging panel is made up of Sarah Howells, Marketing Brand Manager
for Commercial Vehicle Direct Insurance Services Ltd. Plus CVD’s
two Dealer Liaison Managers, Lauren Upham and Linzi Bettridge.
Editor of CV Dealer magazine, Jason Hodge will lend his
weight to the judging panel alongside Robin Dickerson, manager of
commercial vehicle affairs for the SMMT.
Robin
commented, “The awards competition is great news, in some ways
the commercial vehicle salespeople are the unsung heroes of the
industry and it is great that they have the chance to win a
holiday for themselves and some free advertising for their
business.”
